Don't Panic! Yoga for Anxiety & Depression

Anxiety is a feeling of fear, worry, and uneasiness. We all get it, some more and worse than others. In this workshop, we will focus on relieving anxiety and reducing stress by focusing on our breath...mainly our exhales, some standing postures to ground us, and lots of forward bends and restorative poses to quiet our minds and relax our nervous system. Yoga can be a powerful tool for easing these and other symptoms of anxiety, stress, and trauma. With celebrities and athletes like Kevin Love and Carson Daly opening up about their struggles, it gives us "everyday people" the courage to open up as well. So let's talk about it, let's share our stories, let's heal...we are NOT alone!

In this workshop, Jill Pawloski, ERYT-200, will introduce you to a suite of techniques that can help you find peace and calm, including breath (pranayama), movement (asana), meditation, and yoga nidra (yogic sleep) techniques that can help you heal. Anyone can do this, especially after a stressful work day, or whenever you are feeling uneasy. Learn the tools to stay calm and grounded to help you wind down from any type of stress!

Jill will also be providing essential oil samples for you that will aide in the calming of the mind. Besides increasing calm and well-being, using essential oils to treat anxiety also reduces the chances of developing stress and anxiety-related disease and complications like sleep problems, allergies, diabetes, arthritis, heart disease and cancer.

Assisting From the Heart - The Art of Hands On Assists for Yoga Teaching with Gary Dacanay

Create a new way of being when you assist. Learn how to approach, engage, and leave an assist to empower the student and enhance the pose. Assists for standing, seated, and lying down poses will be covered. Learn how to create assists in the moment based on spatial and physical relationships and body energy awareness. Deepen your sense of mindfulness within yourself and make a more compassionate and powerful connection to your students through yoga assisting.

Inversion Workshop

The inverted postures of yoga are some of the most beneficial yet intimidating of the asanas. Linda Stevenson will introduce you to and practice postures such as headstand, forearm stand, handstand, shoulder stand, and more. You will be guided through alignment, technique, and modifications and variations in a manner that will, consistently practiced, allow you to develop the strength and power in your core strength to safely add these poses to your practice. This workshop will begin with a discussion on the benefits and challenges of inversions, a warm up flow to prepare the body, and many assists to help you get comfortable seeing the world from this new angle! $25 investment in your health!
